Savor The Bronx 2017 Restaurant Week returns for its seventh year this November 6th through November 17th. The 12-day event will feature over 30 participating eateries, including seasoned favorites like Ceetay and Jake’s Steakhouse, as well as newly minted members of the culinary scene uptown like Habanero Mexican Cuisine and Porto Salvo—which hosted and catered the 2017 Savor The Bronx preview on Monday, October 30, along with Chelsea Craft Brewing Company and Delicioso Coco Helado.
Porto Salvo owners and husband and husband team, Marc Lu and Luigi Ghidetti are two of many business entrepreneurs to answer uptown’s transforming culinary scene’s call for more quality sit-down restaurants to join the company of those who have been successfully serving their communities for years.
Lu and Ghidetti, both experienced restauranteurs, moved into the 161 Street area approximately five years ago. Seeing an opportunity to open a place where food is “cooked from scratch, provides quality ingredients with very nice presentation within a very good setting,” they conceived Porto Salvo Lu explains. They opened its doors just a few months ago.
Now? Mission accomplished.
For the Savor The Bronx preview, they rolled out more than a dozen dishes from its predominantly seafood menu, inspired by Italian port taverns in Ghidetti’s hometown Terracina—a seaside city south of Rome.
